COVID-19 Resources & Information

East Haven Public Schools has been working closely with the East Shore District Health Department (ESDHD) regarding 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) planning. The ESDHD is in regular communication with our local town officials and Connecticut Department of Public Health, as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure the health and safety of our community.

Fortunately, at this time, our community remains at low-risk of community transmission of COVID-19. However, the threat of widespread pandemic COVID-19 remains.

The best time to learn about a potential pandemic virus is before it occurs. Use the sources below to stay informed. As we continue to work with local health officials to plan and prepare, East Haven Public Schools and the ESDHD encourage you to follow the guidelines below:

  • Keep children who are sick at home. Don’t send them to school. Consult your doctor.

  • Teach your children to wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Be sure to set a good example by doing this yourself.

  • Teach your children to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into the inside of the elbow.

  • Monitor travel alerts issued by the CDC specific to COVID-19 if you are planning trips, particularly for the upcoming breaks. These alerts can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coroiiavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html.

In the event of a pandemic COVID-19 affecting the Town of East Haven, you will be notified. Notices would be sent by telephone, mail, the internet and local media (newspapers, television and radio). Important information will be posted on the East Haven Public Schools web site (https://www.east-haven.kl2.ct.us). In addition, in the case of an emergency, the school system will use the East Haven Public Schools notification system to contact you as needed.

East Haven Public Schools, East Haven Town Officials and the ESDHD will take every step to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff to maintain the continuous education of our students.
