East Haven Public Schools

Dear EHPS Community,
As you head into the holiday weekend, we hope you take this time to recharge and enjoy some quality moments together.
We look forward to welcoming you back next week for our K-8 family conferences. We believe a strong school-home connection is the foundation of student success; these meetings are a vital opportunity for us to partner together, celebrate your child’s growth, and align our goals for the rest of the year. Please reach out to your child's school to sign-up for a conference slot.
To provide time for these important conversations, all K–8 students will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, 2/18 and Thursday, 2/19.
Thank you for your continued engagement in your child's education. We'll see you soon!
In partnership,
Adam Swinney, Interim Superintendent

East Haven Public Schools is proud to partner with Hagaman Memorial Library to bring rich literacy experiences directly into our elementary schools. Through this partnership, Youth Services Librarian Caitlin Riccitelli visits classrooms to lead engaging read-alouds and thoughtful story discussions with students.
Each visit is intentionally connected to our Vision of the Graduate attributes, helping students explore themes like responsible citizenship, powerful and effective communication, informed thinking, goal-directedness and resiliency, and resourceful problem-solving, through high-quality children’s literature. These shared reading experiences not only build a love of books, but also deepen students’ understanding of the habits and character traits we nurture every day in our schools.
We are grateful for Hagaman Memorial Library’s collaboration and for the meaningful role this partnership plays in supporting both literacy and student development across our district.

February marks Black History Month, a time to honor and celebrate the culture, history, and contributions of African Americans.
To support this learning, the CT State Department of Education released the Illuminating Black History and Culture Through Art PD Playlist. It offers a collection of resources—both new and existing—that our educational community can explore, use, and share. These materials are designed to enhance understanding, teaching, and learning throughout the month and beyond.

Chelsea Mingione has been a dedicated and impactful member of the Girls Basketball program throughout her four years of high school. A proud captain, she exemplifies leadership, commitment, and sportsmanship both on and off the court. Highly coachable and goal oriented, Chelsea leads by example—encouraging teammates, setting a positive tone in practice, and always putting the team first.
Despite sustaining an injury in the final weeks of the season, she has remained positive and focused on returning for the last two games, demonstrating resilience and mental toughness. Her sportsmanship and character have earned her the EHHS Sportsmanship Award as a junior and a Dedication Award from Connecticut AAU USA while playing for Team Connecticut.
Off the court, Chelsea values family, friendships, and community service, and she is grateful for the coaches who have supported her journey. She truly represents what it means to be a Scholar Athlete—dedicated, resilient, and a positive role model for her peers.
