Dear EHPS Families,
Thank you for playing such a vital role in our educational community. We believe that education is a partnership, and we are grateful for your efforts in supporting your child’s learning during our mid-year assessment window.
Over the next two weeks, families of students in grades K–8 will receive mid-year performance reports via ParentSquare. These reports offer a "snapshot" of your child’s current progress and help us work together to ensure they reach their end-of-year goals.
Our schools utilize research-based tools to provide a comprehensive view of student learning:
-
i-Ready Reading & Math (Grades K–8): This diagnostic identifies both areas of strength and opportunities for extra support in relation to grade-level expectations.
-
DIBELS 8th Edition (Grades K–5): These assessments help us understand foundational reading development, such as phonological awareness and fluency.
Now that the mid-year assessment window has concluded, our focus is on using this data to drive continued learning growth. Our commitment to your child's success includes targeted instruction and differentiated support. Ultimately, teachers use this data to reflect on instructional practices and design specific adjustments for the months ahead to ensure that students are both challenged and supported.
We look forward to continuing our work together to support every student's journey toward their year-end goals.
In partnership,
Adam Swinney, Interim Superintendent

Raymond Weston’s hockey journey at East Haven is a powerful example of perseverance, growth, and commitment. Now in his seventh year playing the sport, Raymond has never missed a single game or practice, an achievement that speaks volumes about his dedication to the team and to improving himself every day.
During his freshman year, Raymond saw limited playing time, but instead of getting discouraged, he used those experiences as motivation. Through hard work, accountability, and a willingness to learn, he steadily improved his game and earned the trust of his coaches and teammates. Today, his contributions are invaluable to the team, and he has even been moved onto the power play unit.
Raymond is a well-rounded student athlete who maintains strong academic performance and consistently earns Honor Roll recognition. On the ice, he is a strong communicator who takes responsibility for his mistakes, learns from them, and works to make immediate improvements. He is beyond thankful for the coaches and teammates who have supported his growth, and his journey serves as a clear example of what can be achieved through commitment, humility, and perseverance.
