Dear EHPS Community,
In observance of World Kindness Day, we hosted an inspiring event for all 7th and 8th grade students focused on their power to make a measurable and lasting impact in our community.
The assembly led by Brian Williams, Founder of Think Kindness, empowered students to see the ripple effect of their actions. The message centered on three essential action steps: See the good, Be brave, and Be kind.
Following the main event, students from the middle and high school Educators Rising program and Kindness Club participated in a breakout session with Mr. Williams to further their learning of presentation skills and effective storytelling. Importantly, they collaborated with Mr. Williams to plan their own student-led kindness assemblies for EHPS elementary students that will be shared later this year. This unique opportunity allows these aspiring young educators to grow as leaders by practicing kindness and mentoring others while gaining valuable teaching experience and building connections across schools.
As we seek to promote shared ownership for cultivating safe, inclusive schools, we are so grateful for the planning efforts of Tracy Bureau and Stephanie Rivellini and the cooperation with EHA and JMMS faculty and staff. Additionally, we are deeply appreciative of our sponsors–East Haven Youth Services, SAVVAS, EHPD Police Athletic League, and Alliance for Prevention & Wellness–who helped to bring this integrated programming to our students!
In partnership,
Adam Swinney, Interim Superintendent

East Haven High School hosted its annual Community Nonprofit Event on November 14th. During this event, students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from local nonprofit organizations to learn about the meaningful work they do to support our community. This event offered students valuable insight into volunteer opportunities, career pathways, and the importance of community service and civic engagement.
It was wonderful seeing our students connect with these inspiring organizations that make a difference every day. Thank you to our community members for their continued support of our programs and students.

This is the second year East Haven has participated in the Kid Governor program with Nominating Classes. As a district, all East Haven 5th graders learned about the three branches of our state government. voting rights, campaigning and what the job of the Governor entails. The full experience allowed an opportunity for all East Haven 5th graders to engage in civic life by learning to vote, think critically, lead, research, propose solutions for community issues, and carry out plans for change.

Honoring Our Heroes: EHA Veterans Day Celebration
A cherished tradition at East Haven Academy is the annual Veterans Day Celebration. This year, the Academy proudly honored 28 veterans, all of whom were beloved family members of our students and staff - for their bravery, honor, and sacrifice. Students helped make the day extra special by creating heartfelt decorations and gifts, performing songs, reading essays, and even hosting a Veterans Day trivia contest. The celebration concluded with a warm reception, where veterans and their families gathered together in appreciation and community.
|
For the fourth year at East Haven High School, the Culinary program and other student groups hold a Veterans Day breakfast with coffee and treats in the Hive Café to honor and celebrate veterans. Dozens of veterans have attended since the inception of this culinary tradition.

The Soldier's Cross signs are made by students in the woodworking and manufacturing programs at East Haven High School. A sign purchase supports our EHHS students in our CTE manufacturing programs as well as supporting East Haven veterans.

Since starting soccer at age three, Kiley Mazzucco has been a steady presence in East Haven’s program, playing through town, club, middle school, and high school. This season, she anchored the Yellowjackets’ defense as a center back and key leader.
Inspired by her sisters, Kiley learned early on to always give her best. “They inspired me to always try my hardest so one day I could play like the big girls.”
For Kiley, soccer is more than a sport, it’s her outlet. “It’s a safe space where I can use my frustration to play and instantly feel better.” She values the close bond with her teammates, who “always have your back on and off the field.”
Kiley’s growth reflects her dedication. Once a player with limited minutes, she now plays a full 90 every game. “Hard work does pay off,” she says. “If you can’t do it for yourself, do it for your team.” Kiley embodies the heart, grit, and pride of East Haven soccer.

Gaining feedback is essential in ensuring the success of the district’s child nutrition program. We have created a customer satisfaction survey to help collect accurate feedback from our students and parents/guardians. This quick 5-minute survey will gather quantitative and qualitative data about the child nutrition program which we will use to enhance student experiences.
About the survey:
- This is a nation-wide survey used to gain insight from school districts across the country
- This is a smart survey meaning the survey will tailor the questions based on how participants answer initial queries
- The survey is available in multiple languages
- Survey results will be stored in a secure Sodexo system
- The survey does not collect any personal information from participants
- The elementary survey is geared towards parent/guardian response
- The secondary survey is geared towards parents/guardians and/or students

Strong attendance is directly tied to academic success. Please help us by making school attendance a top priority for your child. Missing more than 2 days of school per month places a student in the category of being chronically absent—something we work hard to prevent, since attendance impacts learning at every stage of a child’s education.
Help your child succeed in school by building the habit of good attendance early. Visit this link for helpful tips on building healthy attendance habits as early as Pre-K and Kindergarten.
Keep your child on track in middle school and high school and help your teen stay engage. Visit this link to learn what you can do.
Let’s partner together to ensure that every child attends school regularly and has the best possible opportunity to achieve.
