East Haven Public Schools
|
Dear EHPS Community,
We are thrilled to share that East Haven Public Schools was featured by the CT Commissioner of Education, Charlene Russell-Tucker, during yesterday’s release of the 2024-25 Next Generation Accountability System results.
EHPS earned this special recognition for continuing to outpace the state in the percentage of students participating in rigorous, College and Career Ready coursework. Even more impressively, we achieved over a 10% increase in 11th & 12th grade students earning benchmark on at least one of the following: SAT, AP coursework, or earning three or more dual enrollment credits.
These achievements are a direct result of the powerful partnership between our dedicated faculty and staff, our motivated students, supportive families, the Board of Education, and our broader community. Thank you to everyone who contributes to our students' success.
Learn More About Our Pathways - To discover more about these course pathways, including our robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities, please visit our Programs Overview on the EHPS website. We are deeply committed to building upon these successes and providing even greater opportunities for every student in East Haven. Go Yellowjackets!
In partnership,
Adam Swinney, Interim Superintendent

Career and Technical Education programs (CTE) are a game-changer for so many EHHS students because they boost student engagement, increase graduation rates, and better equip students for future careers by integrating academics and real world skills. They achieve this through hands-on learning, work based experiences like internships, and connections to industries that provide students with valuable skills and even certifications while they are still students.
October has been designated as Manufacturing Month nationally and in Connecticut. To bolster the continuous efforts to design and share career development resources for learners, the State Deptartment of Education Academic Office has created the Manufacturing Month PD Playlist of curated resources.

The Soldier's Cross signs are made by students in the woodworking and manufacturing programs at East Haven High School. A sign purchase supports our EHHS students in our CTE manufacturing programs as well as supporting East Haven veterans. Proceeds go to East Haven veteran organizations. In celebration of their two new locations in East Haven and North Haven, Burlington Stores, in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, have provided two $5,000 AdoptAClassroom.org grants to Momauguin School and Ferrara School! To celebrate this donation to our East Haven classrooms, the local Burlington stores leadership team invited town officials, school administration, teaching staff and students as guests at the two store’s Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting events last week. Students sang a song, Mayor Carfora cut the ribbon and East Haven school spirit helped make for a festive event!
The grants are being divided among the teaching staff, so each teacher will receive funding to order supplemental materials to further enhance the learning environment in their classrooms through AdoptAClassroom.org. Burlington Stores and AdoptAClassroom.org has provided such generous donations to our schools, and we are so appreciative of their support to our community!

From an early age, William Mensah was known for his boundless energy and competitive spirit. What others once saw as restlessness, William discovered could be his greatest strength when he found football. The field became his outlet, a place where intensity, focus, and drive were celebrated.
Over the years, William has grown not only as an athlete but as a person. Through the highs of victory and the challenges of conditioning, injuries, and tough losses, he has built resilience and character. His dedication and leadership earned him the honor of being selected by his teammates as team captain, a role he holds with pride.
“For me, football provided an outlet for all that energy,” William reflects. “Being chosen as captain pushed me to grow even more, not just to meet my own goals, but to become a leader and make a real difference for my teammates.”
William’s commitment, determination, and leadership embody what it means to be a true student-athlete. His influence will leave a lasting impact on the program and the players who follow in his footsteps.
