Vendors Security Camera RFP Page
Q: I see that there are closet locations marked on all of the floorplans except East Haven High School. Can I get a closet count and location?
A: The floorplans for the High School have been updated. Click here to view/download the file. |
Q: Under the section for optional bid items I see there is Cisco PoE switching for the base bid and optional camera connectivity. Are we to provide any GBICs or fiber patch cables for connectivity between the closets? Would there be any fiber terminations required? If we are providing the fiber patch cables and the fiber is already terminated, what termination type was used?
A: No interconnection is included as part of the bid. |
Q: I see that a wide angle of 180 degrees was specified, this is a specialty camera angle and not traditional. Would an angle of 100 degrees be appropriate or is 180 required?
A: 180° is appropriate for the wide angle option. |
Q: Regarding the optional PoE switching, is Cisco the only brand acceptable?
A: Yes. We have standardized on Cisco for all networking hardware throughout the district. |
Q: Also for the servers, should I be setting storage to aim for 30 days based on motion?
A: Although the base bid specifies 2TB of storage, you may, as an addendum, quote additional storage, and 30 day retention is an appropriate goal. |
Q: Does the school system have the bandwidth between each school to build a camera network and have everything come back to one school/it room for recording?
A: Yes. Each school is connected with 1GB private fiber, and the Middle School/Academy is connected with 10GB private fiber |
Updated High School Map
The High School map on the RFP shows the camera locations, however, didn't show where the MDF or the IDF's are located. This updated map will show where they are. Click here to view the updated map. |
Q: When is the expected bid award, as work seems to need to be completed on a very short timetable?
A: We hope to award the bid the week of April 20. |
Q: Are there any specifications on camera brands, types, resolution, etc?
A: We are allowing vendors to specify cameras that will be part of their overall solution. These cameras must include housings that are appropriate to their location and function. |
Q: Please clarify night vision?
A: IR cameras that display a monochrome signal, with the goal of capturing suspicious activity after hours. |
