| Sixth grade students created their own canopic jars as part of the social studies unit on Egypt. Canopic jars were used to store the four sacred organs of the body: the liver, stomach, lungs and the lower body. Egyptians believed that they needed to store these organs for the afterlife, something they had a deep belief in. This process was part of the ritual completed for the mummification process.
